Tri-d Chess
A downloadable game
A variant of chess seen often in the Star Trek series of shows and movies. There are three primary boards and 4 smaller, moveable attack boards. The rules vary wildly, but this version is rules agnostic, allowing you to play under any rule set you desire. The game only supports remote multiplayer presently, and not local. It makes remote connections through use of a noray proxy. The first release will only support windows and mac, but follow on releases will include mobile applications.
Current Limitations:
No turn history, move notation, or game saving
No undo button
No move validation
No undo and no validation together mean that if you're gonna play, be 100% sure you're clicking on the square you think you are.
How to Play:
- You and a friend both start up the games on your own devices
- Who ever will be white: Copy your room code and send it to the black player then hit New Game
- Black Player: Paste the code from white in the box and hit join game
- After a moment, the server will connect you and you can begin the game.
- To make a move, simply click on a square with a piece you control, and then click the target square. If the square contains an enemy piece, it is automatically captured.
- To castle, first select your king square, then select either rook square.
- You can reset your selection by pressing the reset button in the upper left
- To move an attack board, click the square the attack board is on. In the upper left, hit the select attack board button. Click another square capable of holding an attack board
- To promote a pawn, simply advance a pawn to the furthest rank and a menu will appear in the upper left. Alternatively, move an attack board with a pawn on the back rank to a spot at the back rank on the enemy main board. Select the promotion choice.
- There is a basic timer implemented presently that gives each player 20 minutes
- To send a chat message to the other player, type the message in the text box in the lower right and then press send. The chat history will display the message to both players. Please don't be a jerk unless you're playing with a friend and they expect and condone your jerk ways. Some friends are like this, mine included.
- Then all you have to do is play the game and enjoy!
